Legion Systems - About Tom Polchowski

Who is Tom Polchowski and What Does He Do?

I've enjoyed working with computers since I was young -- around five years old. The first game I played was a text adventure called "Castle", and the first program I wrote was an infinite counting routine in GW-BASIC.

Both games and software development have come a long way. I currently produce enterprise software in high-level languages such as Java and Microsoft .NET. Until September 2004 I was employed at J.Brown Agency, a marketing company based in Stamford, Connecticut. J.Brown designs and implements the marketing initiatives of Fortune 500 companies, and exists as a partner company of the advertising pioneer Grey Global Group. I worked in J.Brown's interactive development department, architecting and developing software for the agency and its clients.

Tom's Next Steps

After living in Connecticut for my entire life, I decided to continue my career in the nation's capital, Washington D.C. I completed my transition out of J.Brown in September 2004 and I began working for an excellent computer consulting company two months after.

In addition to the fantastic economy, I fell in love with the culture, the diversity, and the pace of the Washington Area. I'm looking forward to calling it home.

There's More to Tom than Software

It's true... I try my best to sneak away from the computer.

I'm a big fan of the outdoors, whether it be biking, hiking, camping, or playing a game of basketball. I watch a lot of movies, and I'm typically involved in a book. I also enjoy keeping up with current events and politics.

Most of all, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially while engaged in a philosophical discussion at the local coffee house. I have a deep interest in psychology and new ways of thinking, and I love conversation and hearing about new perspectives.
